KEMABONG: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) has vowed to go all out to recapture the Kemabong state seat in the upcoming state election (PRN).
In this respect, Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin stressed the urgent need to reclaim the Kemabong state seat, while at the same time extending support to coalition partners contesting in the Melalap state constituency.
“Let us set aside all disputes and differences, uniting our hearts and minds to work together as a team to ensure victory in this by-election,” he said during the launch of the Jalinan Rakyat (JR) machinery at the Sri Ontoros Community Hall here on Saturday.
The event was also attended by Datuk Jafry Arifin, Secretary of Umno/BN Sabah; Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, Treasurer of Umno/BN Sabah; Datuk Raimee Unggi, Tenom Umno Chief; Senator Datuk Noraini Idiris, Head of Women’s Wing of Umno/BN Sabah; and Datuk Rahmahjan Sulaiman Khan, Head of Women’s Wing of Umno/BN Tenom.
Meanwhile, Bung urged the people of Tenom, especially in the Kemabong area, not to fall for the sweet promises made by certain leaders claiming that land owned by Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (SFI) will be distributed to the locals.
Bung, the Sabah UMNO chief, said that these are false promises, as the land in question has already been sold by the state government to a private company based in Peninsular Malaysia.
“If there are more promises like this, do not be easily influenced, as they are lies meant to gain support for the party and its leaders,” he said.
In this regard, Bung mentioned that BN aims to regain power in Sabah in the upcoming state elections to bring about change and provide better service than the current administration.
“If given the chance and mandate by the people of Sabah, we will work hard to create an administration that meets the aspirations and expectations of the people, who have been misled by appealing slogans that are far from reality,” he said.
Bung, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kinabatangan, noted that the state government has declared Sabah free from poverty, yet the critical state of infrastructure, such as roads, clean water supply, and electricity, reflects ongoing poverty and hinders the people’s ability to earn a living.
“With the launch of the Jalinan Rakyat (JR), I hope it will focus on efforts to boost the confidence of the people,” he added.
