SANDAKAN: Lai King Hang, the Founder and Chairman of the Sandakan Heritage Trail, expressed his optimism that Tourism Malaysia will continue to support this increasingly popular destination for both local and international visitors.
He emphasised the importance of promoting Sandakan as a heritage city, given its rich historical significance.
In addition to the ten heritage sites along the trail, he said there are numerous other important locations that deserve recognition, such as the Sandakan Memorial Park, the original site for POWs during World War II, and the Tam Kung Temple, known for its unique blend of old and new architecture, among others that have yet to receive the attention they merit.
Lai made these remarks during the visit of Cik Haryanti Abu Bakar, the new Director of Tourism Malaysia Sabah, to the Sandakan Heritage Trail on Sunday.
Accompanying them were senior team members Lily Aw and Gary Solacito, along with Encik Darryl Hamzah, Senior Tourism Officer of TM Sabah.j
