KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar, the Chairman of the Malaysian People’s Power Movement (G57), lacks the authority to dictate the actions of Sabah UMNO as they prepare for the upcoming State Election (PRN17).
Sabah UMNO election director Jeffrey Nor Mohamed is seeking clarification on who the senior leaders are that Zulkarnain claims have discussed this collaboration.
He questions whether Zulkarnain has more right to be informed about this alliance than the leadership of Sabah UMNO itself.
Jeffrey points out that Warisan is also supporting the Unity Government at the federal level, yet they are not mentioned as potential partners for the Sabah elections.
He believes that Zulkarnain’s suggestions are unreasonable, emphasising that Sabah UMNO has its own strategic plans for the upcoming elections.
In response to Zulkarnain’s call for UMNO Sabah to collaborate with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for the 17th State Election next year, Jeffrey, who is also the Putatan UMNO chief, argues that it is unnecessary to claim that such a partnership would effectively address the issues faced by the people of Sabah.
He reminds us that GRS has already been given the opportunity to govern the state, yet many of the people’s problems remain unresolved.
Jeffrey advises Zulkarnain to refrain from interfering in Sabah UMNO’s affairs and allows GRS to manage their responsibilities as the election approaches.
He stressed that the public is closely watching how the issues, particularly infrastructure challenges in Sabah, are being handled.
