Salleh reiterates call for greater transparency in e-Kasih program

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has reiterated his call for greater transparency in the government’s e-Kasih program.

To do so, he proposed that the list of beneficiaries must be exhibited at the village level and district offices.

According to Salleh, this would ensure that the public has full access to this information.

“This transparency is essential to ensure that only those who truly qualify receive the assistance they need,” he said in his latest Facebook post.

The Usukan assemblyman had made a similar call during last year’s Sabah State Assembly sitting.

Salleh said those who are qualified for the e-Kasih program must be assisted urgently without considering their political affiliation.

“By displaying the e-Kasih list for public scrutiny, people have the right to query and raise concerns if they find discrepancies or feel that unqualified individuals are benefiting from this program,” he added.

He said public oversight is not just a necessity but a right.

“It is crucial for us to maintain the integrity of our social welfare systems. Of course, this proposal needs further detailed study and considerations for its smooth execution.

“Let’s work together to ensure that assistance reaches those who genuinely need it,” he said.
