National Consumer Foundation hails the Sabah government’s dedication to education – David Chan

KOTA KINABALU: The state government, led by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition through Yayasan Sabah, has recently declared the provision of scholarships and motivation for qualified students to seek educational loans.

This effort has received acclaim from Sabah Chairman David Chan of the National Consumer Foundation for its significant influence on the future of local students.

David said that the foundation of any progressive society is rooted in its commitment to education.

He highlighted that the Sabah Government’s choice to grant scholarships to deserving students and motivate them to apply for loans demonstrates a profound understanding of this principle.

By increasing access to higher education, the government is not only investing in individual futures but also in the collective progress of the state, he further added.

David expressed gratitude to the Sabah Chief Minister for his consistent support for financially needy students.

“This initiative ensures that financial obstacles do not impede the academic aspirations of our youth. With these scholarships and loans, students who may have otherwise been unable to afford higher education now have the chance to pursue their studies, including opportunities abroad,” he said in a statement today.

David said that there are numerous students in Sabah, and the dream of studying overseas appeared distant and unattainable due to financial limitations.

“The GRS government’s initiative alters that narrative. By offering the necessary financial assistance, the government is enabling students to dream bigger and achieve more.

“This action not only enriches the individual lives of these students but also brings honour to the entire state of Sabah as we witness our youth excel on global platforms,” he remarked.

He emphasised that the Sabah Government’s encouragement to eligible students to apply for these scholarships and loans is a crucial move towards inclusivity in education.
