TAMBUNAN: The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) is becoming stronger with the enrollment of 1,000 new members into the party, as of last Saturday
Datuk Michael Emban submitted the membership forms on behalf of the new members to the Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan Division Chief, Datuk Victor P. Paut, at the Tambunan Community Hall.
During his speech at the event, Michael said that they chose to join Gagasan Rakyat because it is a local party, a government party, and led by a leader who has shown dedication in prioritising the welfare of the people of Tambunan.
“Tambunan really needs a young, energetic, and committed leader, and these qualities are present in Dato Victor, who has shown sincerity in focusing on the welfare of the people of Tambunan,” said Michael, a former senior government servant.
“My presence with 1,000 new Gagasan Rakyat members shows that we have full confidence and solid support for Dato’ Victor’s leadership,” he said.
Victor, in his speech at the event, emphasised that the addition of 1,000 new members to the party is another important and historic event for the Tambunan district, especially the Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan Division.
“I was deeply moved when I entered the hall and saw the new members wearing red clothes like a ‘Red Wave’ flooding the Tambunan Community Hall,” he said.
He expressed his highest appreciation and gratitude to all new members of Gagasan Rakyat for being able to accept, appreciate, and internalise the concept and philosophy of the party’s struggle.
This also signifies and reflects that the spirit and struggle of Gagasan Rakyat are pure and based on the desires and aspirations of the people of Tambunan.
I congratulate and extend my congratulations to all new members who have made the right choice, as Gagasan Rakyat is a party consisting of various races that upholds the understanding and unity of all races in Sabah to work together to advance Sabah into a progressive and advanced state towards strengthening relationships, harmony, and unity to achieve the mission, vision, and direction of Sabah’s development that is more empowered and competitive,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Victor said that these new members consist of those who have never or previously joined several parties in the Tambunan area.
“With the participation of 1000 new members, Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan now has 7,000 members, and our target is approaching 10,000 members by the end of this year, 2024,” he said.
At the event, Victor also presented an incentive contribution of RM3000 to the winner of the World Championship of Performing Art (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, Vanessa William, and donated a wheelchair to a member of Gagasan Rakyat Tambunan.
