Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor emphasised the need for everyone to stay alert and keep up the pace leading up to the crucial state election.

He urged the leaders of the Gagasan Rakyat information bureaus at the division level to communicate all the government’s current initiatives and successes to the people in the state.

This was one of the key issues highlighted by Hajiji during the launch of the Current Issues Information Programme organised by the Gagasan Rakyat Information Bureau at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Monday.

The president of Gagasan Rakyat stated that the programme is designed to strengthen the party’s machinery.

“This programme is specifically for all division-level party leaders, aimed at strengthening the party’s machinery because our time is running out and the current government’s term is until October next year.

“So this is a common thing we call a course to ensure that all our machinery is more organised to face the upcoming election,” he said when met by reporters.

In addition, Hajiji mentioned that the programme’s focus is solely on providing information about the initiatives achieved by the existing state government.

“This programme is about information; we ask them (information bureau chiefs) to explain to the people the initiatives achieved by the current government because many of our initiatives and successes have not been communicated to the lower levels; some are not even aware, so this is their responsibility.

“They must explain to the people what achievements the government has made, what assistance has been provided to the people, to the poor, and so on, how much investment has come in since we took office, the thousands of job opportunities that our people have obtained, and so on. This is important,” he emphasised.

He also requested that party information bureau chiefs counter any slander thrown at the current.
