SANDAKAN: Sabah UMNO Information Chief Datuk Suhaimi Haji Nasir expresses his belief that it is essential for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to consistently adopt an open-minded approach in embracing feedback and criticism from all parties.
He said this practice serves as a valuable check and balance mechanism, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of service delivery to the people of Sabah.
Suhaimi said that good and esteemed leaders are individuals who consistently embrace feedback and criticism from all parties in order to prioritize the welfare of the people in any given circumstance.
“Do not just be carried away by beautiful dreams in leading the position as Chief Minister, instead come down, see and feel the problems faced by the people such as lack of clean water supply, electricity supply being cut off here and there, and poorly maintained roads.
“In seven villages near the Sungai Manila Scheme, there has been a disruption in water supply for a year, and Kampung Sebait has been without clean water for over a year. The residents in that area are facing significant hardships due to the lack of clean water, which was previously available as usual.
Suhaimi said that despite this issue being brought up in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN), the GRS government has yet to resolve the problem.
“The feedback and criticism are rooted in the actual challenges faced by the people. I am referring to the Chief Minister’s dismissal of the feedback from UMNO Sabah Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who was criticized as being out of touch and merely dreaming when pointing out the state government’s shortcomings.
“Datuk Seri Hajiji should not ignore the genuine problems highlighted by Datuk Seri Bung Moktar. The Chief Minister should acknowledge feedback and criticism, working towards resolving the issues instead of denying them,” he said in a statement today.
Suhaimi, who is also the Libaran Member of Parliament, has advised the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, to refrain from attacking the Kinabatangan Member of Parliament, who is a staunch supporter of the 10th Prime Minister’s leadership.
“It would be more beneficial for Datuk Armizan to concentrate on finding solutions to address the escalating prices of goods, easing the burden on the people today,” he remarked.
He further cautioned Armizan against turning a blind eye to the fact that the majority of leaders in Sabah’s political landscape are seasoned, with GRS and PGRS themselves having senior leaders who have long been associated with UMNO and BN.
