Kota Belud on high alert as a result of the scorching temperatures

KOTA KINABALU: The Kota Belud district has recently been added to the list of areas in the state that are now classified as being on alert level one due to the prevailing hot weather conditions in the country.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), a total of 26 other areas have also been placed on alert level one or high alert status, with maximum daily temperatures soaring up to 37 degrees Celsius for a minimum of three consecutive days.

These areas encompass Kedah (Pulau Langkawi, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Kuala Muda, Sik, and Baling); Perak (Kampar, Kuala Kangsar, and Kinta); as well as Northeast Penang.

Moreover, Johor (Muar, Segamat, and Batu Pahat); Selangor (Kuala Selangor and Sepang); Pahang (Raub, Bentong, and Temerloh); Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Tampin, Rembau, and Jelebu); Alor Gajah, Melaka, and Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory have also been placed on high alert, as reported as of 4.30 pm on Tuesday.

“Additionally, two more areas have been categorized as Level Two (Heatwave), namely (Pokok Sena) in Kedah and Perlis, with expected temperatures soaring up to 40 degrees Celsius,” the statement released later indicated.
