BEAUFORT: The long-awaited moment has finally arrived for some impoverished families, as they now have the opportunity to live in houses constructed under the Poor People’s Housing Programme (PPRT) in Kampung Karangan, located near here.
Assistant minister to the chief minister, Datuk Hj Ruslan Muharam, said this achievement is a result of the government’s unwavering dedication to addressing the challenges faced by the most underprivileged individuals, particularly by providing them with more comfortable homes.
As the Lumadan assemblyman, Ruslan highlighted that the PPRT housing project was carried out through a collaboration between Giat Mara and the Sabah state government.
Ruslan further revealed that in 2022, the Lumadan state assembly will receive 11 new PPRT houses and 29 repaired houses that have been renovated by Giat Mara.
Moreover, in 2023, the Lumadan state constituency was granted five new PPRT houses and 47 repaired houses.
“This exemplifies Giat Mara’s commitment to the Madani government and the state government in their joint efforts to assist the people. Among the recipients of these houses are individuals who have patiently waited for 17 years, and undoubtedly, the provision of these PPRT houses has brought them immense joy,” he said.
Ruslan shared these remarks with reporters after the PPRT house key handover ceremony at Kampung Karangan today.
However, he acknowledged that there are still numerous families in need of PPRT houses, particularly within the Lumadan state constituency.
In light of this, he assured that the government, through various agencies, will explore avenues to assist these groups.
The recipients of the PPRT houses in Karangan village expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the government for demonstrating genuine concern for the people’s issues, especially those faced by the impoverished.
