Leaders in this country are advised against subjecting the population to victimisation

KOTA BELUD: Leaders in this nation are cautioned against victimising the people or jeopardising their well-being in order to pursue the political interests of specific groups, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He stressed that political differences and beliefs are not an issue in this country, which embraces an open-minded approach.

However, he said the welfare of the people should always take precedence.

In light of this, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is diligently working towards maintaining and ensuring the stability of the country’s politics, he said.

“This stability is crucial in fostering development, economic growth, investment, and ultimately, the prosperity of the people.

“It would be ideal if our political landscape remained peaceful at all times. Political leaders should honour their commitments and agreements rather than exploit them for the benefit of their own groups, which ultimately victimises the people in politics.

“Let us look to Sabah as an example of respecting diversity. We should strive to emulate the cooperation seen in Sabah, as it holds the potential to bring prosperity to the people,” he remarked.

Ahmad Zahid said this during the Kadamaian Development Launch Ceremony, held in conjunction with the Kadamaian Christmas Celebration Open House.

The event was attended by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also a Kadamaian assemblyman.
