TUARAN: The residents of Wasai Baru in Kiulu are deeply disappointed with their representatives, who have continuously ignored their pleas to improve the village road from Kg Mongkonihab to Kg Wasai Baru.
The village representative, Doimi @ Jimmy Gohon, expressed his frustration, stating that numerous appeals had been made through the Kiulu Community Leaders’ Office (PPM), but unfortunately, they were met with no response.
According to Jimmy, the reason given for the lack of action was the absence of allocated funds, a decision that the villagers reluctantly accepted.
Since there were no signs of any repairs being carried out, the villagers decided to take matters into their own hands and collaborate to fix the damaged and potholed roads.
Therefore, after much effort and cooperation, Jimmy took the initiative to personally fund the repair of the 1.5-kilometre road.
He rented a Hitachi and purchased diesel fuel for its use.
The grading of the road began on December 22 and was successfully completed on December 24, just in time for Christmas.
Jimmy now hopes that Tuaran Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, will take notice of their efforts and do his utmost to support their cause.
“We have exhausted all avenues for seeking assistance from the Kiulu representative. We had hoped that at least the expenses for renting the Hitachi and purchasing the diesel fuel could be reimbursed.
“Unfortunately, due to the lack of provisions, we were unsuccessful. As the representative of over 200 residents of Wasai Baru, we are sincerely hoping for YB Madius’ touch to help us realise our dream of having an improved and upgraded road to Wasai Baru,” Jimmy added.
