PENAMPANG: UPKO, a member of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah, has reaffirmed their commitment to uphold their support for the state government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor until the dissolution of the Sabah state assembly.
UPKO president, Datuk Ewon Benedick, emphasised the significance of this support in maintaining political stability and fostering the development of the state.
“UPKO remains open to cooperation with other political parties for the upcoming state election, but only with those who are sincere and honest.
“The more political parties discuss cooperation, the better it is for political stability in Sabah,” he said.
Ewon told reporters this when they met at his Christmas Open House at the Penampang Cultural Centre here today.
Ewon was responding to the GRS’ readiness to cooperate with PH as well as KDM’s consideration of cooperation with PH in the upcoming state election.
The event was attended by the Head of State, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, and the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Ewon dismissed the notion of the ‘tebuk atap’ movement, stating that it was a tactic employed by certain parties to confuse the people.
UPKO firmly supports the unity government at the federal and state levels and opposes any attempts to overthrow the government elected through elections or legitimate negotiations, he said.
