Gagasan Rakyat desperate to demonstrate their might by “stealing” other party members within GRS – Bung Moktar

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin has described the act of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) grabbing members and leaders of other parties as immoral, lacking in integrity, and losing confidence in the struggle.

He said that it is clear that it happened in almost all 73 state constituencies in Sabah.

“The work of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leaders is nothing but snatching members and leaders from the GRS government itself.

“To me, this is an act that is incorrect, immoral, lacking integrity, and a loss of confidence in the struggle,” he said in his latest posting on Facebook today.

Bung Moktar, who is also the Chairman of the Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee, commented on the statement of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Vice President, Datuk Ruslan Muaharam, who revealed the actions of some parties in the GRS to snatch component party members and wanted it to stop because they did not respect the loyalty of friends.

Ruslan was quoted as saying that the actions of certain parties in GRS “grabbing” members of components must stop because they clearly do not respect the spirit of comradeship.

Ruslan said such action has happened and may cause division in GRS.

Ruslan further claimed that the action also involved “bribing” other party members, especially branch heads with positions, to entice them.

Bung Moktar, who is the Kinabatangan Member of Parliament and the Lamag Assemblyman, agreed with Ruslan’s suggestion that the act of bribing other party members and leaders to join Gagasan Rakyat should be stopped because such a struggle does not guarantee that the party can win the next state election.

He reminded Gagasan Rakyat that parties established on the basis of coercion and money politics, as well as offers of positions, will not last long.

“I still remember that in the past, this kind of thing happened when the BERJAYA party ruled the state, where the party succeeded in buying and bribing almost all the members and leaders of other parties, but in the end, the BERJAYA government collapsed as well,” emphasised Bung Moktar.
