KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah UMNO machinery is ready to support the election campaigns in the six peninsular states, which will hold elections on August 12.
Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee Chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said as entrusted by the Central UMNO, the focus of the Sabah UMNO machinery is to help the campaign in Selangor.
However, if there are other states that need help from the Sabah UMNO machinery in campaigning, they are always ready to lend a helping hand.
Currently, Sabah UMNO records the largest number of members in the country with 583,979 members.
The Sabah UMNO machinery is ready to campaign to ensure victory in favour of the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates and also the unity government, using the available strenght.
However, the number of leaders and machinery that will be deployed to support the State Election campaign in the six states remains to be determined, Bung said.
“The number of Sabah UMNO leaders and machinery will be decided after consultation with the state UMNO leadership,” he said.
Bung said this when met after conducting a survey in several voting districts within the Gombak Parliamentary constituency recently.
Joining him was Sabah UMNO Secretary Datuk Jafray Arifin and several UMNO divisional leaders.
“Despite the very large area of Selangor, we intend to carry out door-to-door campaigns and reduce campaigns at rallies because door-to-door campaigns are more effective and efficient.” said Bung.
