KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Datuk Ewon Benedick reiterated his commitment to ensure Sabah’s rights be brought to the Federal Cabinet.
He said this is important as there will be no harmony between the relationship of the Peninsular and Borneo without it being discussed and finalised in the Cabinet.
“This is also important because the relationship or harmony between the two regions can form political stability. This is why we welcomed the involvement of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to become part of the Unity Government.
“Without Sabah, there will be no Malaysia. We formed this nation through the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).
“The Unity Government has a big responsibility to deliver this consensus to the people of Sabah, Sarawak and Semenanjung through this agreement,” he said in the Bicara Naratif session in RTM recently.
According to Ewon, not only he concentrates on matters related to his ministry across the country, he will also fight for the rights of Sabah as enshrined in the MA63.
He pointed out the 40 per cent net revenue to Sabah from the federal government as an example.
“This is my responsibility as one of the ministers from Sabah appointed in the Federal Cabinet,” he asserted.
