KOTA KINABALU: The State Government’s support to the media fraternity in Sabah continues with a contribution of RM100,000 for the Kinabalu Press Award 2022 (KPA).
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor presented the contribution to Sabah Journalists Association (SJA) committee led by its President Datuk Muguntan Vanar.
“The State Government appreciates the contribution of the media in Sabah towards disseminating the development plans, particularly those under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya,” said Hajiji.
He also urged the mainstream media to provide accurate and factual news to counter various fake news in the social media.
Muguntan said the annual event is jointly held with the support of the Sabah state government aimed at recognising outstanding work of Sabah and Labuan based journalists in print, online and broadcast media Sabah and Labuan.
A total of 270 entries were received this year for 23 categories comprising broadcasting, English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese languages.
“SJA thanked the Chief Minister for the state’s continued support and consenting to grace this year’s KPA,” said Muguntan.
The Chief Minister is expected to attend the event as the guest-of-honour at the Pacific Sutera Hotel on Dec 18.
