PH candidate might spring surprise in Sepanggar – Peto Galim

KOTA KINABALU: Sepanggar Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Mustapha Sakmud is capable of pulling off a surprise if the support of the people, including the Chinese community, for PH translates into votes in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Sepanggar PKR chief, who is also Inanam assemblyman, Peto Galim said this was based on the favourable response received by PH in the election campaign so far.

“The people’s support for PH is increasing, we hope it will be translated into votes on Nov 19.

“Nevertheless, we cannot be too complacent even though in our minds PH has a good chance of winning, instead we need to work hard to get the support of the people of Sepanggar,” he told reporters in Inanam yesterday.

Peto said this when asked about PH’s chance of wresting the Sepanggar parliamentary seat from the incumbent Datuk Azis Jamman, representing Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan).

Apart from Mustapha and Azis, three other candidates — Datuk Yakub Khan (BN), Jumardie Lukman (KDM) and Yusof Kunchang (Pejuang) will be vying for the Sepanggar Parliamentary seat.

In GE14, Azis won the Sepanggar parliamentary seat with a majority of 12,984 votes over former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
