In making the call, United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau said GE15 was an opportune time to address the many problems affecting the country, in particular the cost of living crisis.

“Our country is in a crisis, our country is hit by a leadership crisis, as a result of this crisis, we are also affected by a crisis in the cost of living, economics and finances that we have never experienced before.

“The cost of living for the people of Sabah is even worse than in Peninsular Malaysia, so our country needs a turnaround, which is a new government,” he said in his speech at the Harapan Convention 2022, here on Thursday.

In this regard, Madius said PH’s component parties have agreed to nominate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the post of Prime Minister.

“He (Anwar) is a seasoned leader but has not yet had the chance to lead the country.

“For us, from Sabah, we truly expect a leader who does not only understand the difficulties faced by the people of Borneo but a leader who truly wants to deliver the goods, including the implementation of MA63,” he said.

Madius said, apart from being rich in natural resources, Sabah is also rich in political parties.

“There are so many political parties that claim to be a coalition of local political parties but still cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN) … this also results in a crisis,” he said.

He hopes that with the leadership of PH, the political crisis in Sabah and across the country will come to an end.
