NABAWAN: The Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) Asisimpung am Asisindang gathering yesterday had attracted a huge crowd as various political parties are ramping up preparations for the national polls.
Its party president Datuk Peter Anthony said the large turnout of more than 4,000 people could be the start of solidarity among the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut-Rungus (KDMR) community.
The crowd, who were there to show their support to the party were from the KDMR community.
This had prompted several leaders to call for solidarity and unity among the KDMR community in Sabah.
Peter Anthony, who was also a former state cabinet minister said his call for solidarity and unity has begun to bear fruit.
“The presence of Star deputy president who is also Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin and Nabawan assemblyman Datuk Ghani Yassin is a good start for the KDMR solidarity.
“If this is really the people’s will as seen through the crowd in Pensiangan today, I believe our struggle in realising the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah’s aspiration of ‘Sabah Maju Jaya’ will bear fruit, hopefully,” he told reporters.
Earlier, he also announced the establishment of 63 new branches of the party in the Pensiangan Parliamentary constituency and presented the letters of appointment of the Chief Coordinators of KDM for Nabawan, Sook and Tulid.
