KIMANIS: Sabah UMNO Liaison Chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin hinted at the possibility that ‘there will be other independent state assemblymen’ joining the party soon.
“God willing, there will be. This will strengthen BN-UMNO (in Sabah) and our goal is to strengthen the party and develop the state,” he said.
Bung Moktar said this when met by reporters after attending the Aidilfitri Open House at the residence of Deputy Education Minister II and Kimanis Member of Parliament, Datuk Mohamad Alamin, here on Sunday.
Earlier, he confirmed that he had received an application from Sindumin State Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob to join BN-UMNO.
Bung Moktar said the application was submitted by Yusof last month.
“In fact, technically speaking, we have accepted his entry (into UMNO) and it is just a matter of time to make it official.
“We will hold a meeting first at the state UMNO level and we will support his entry into UMNO,” he said.
Bung Moktar also confirmed that he had received applications to join BN from eight former information chiefs of Parti Warisan Sabah (WARISAN).
