“Send-off” ceremony of the delegation to World Expo 2020, Dubai, UAE at KKIA

KOTA KINABALU, The Ministry of Industrial Development (MID), through the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR) as the secretariat, coordinates 40 entrepreneurs involving 11 SMI companies together with Invest Sabah Berhad, KKIP Sdn. Bhd. and POIC Sabah Sdn. Bhd. to World Expo 2020, Dubai on 20 December to 24 December 2021.

The entrepreneurs involved in the program are Rosmie Snack Industry Sdn. Bhd., Borneo Awesome Food (AFCL), Kristal Handal Sdn. Bhd., Jalina Resources Millionaire, Mama Best Food Sdn. Bhd., Sabah Timber Industries Association, Beta Maju Sdn. Bhd., Magna Wave Sdn. Bhd., Bailina Food Products Sdn. Bhd. and Lados Sdn. Bhd. The purpose of this program is to market Sabah’s products to the world market, attract investment and take the opportunity to strengthen world-class corporate business methods.

The target set for Sabah entrepreneurs is RM 24 million in sales revenue and investment attraction worth RM 25 million at the ‘World Expo 2020 Dubai’, United Arab Emirates.

Among the product brands that will be marketed or introduced at World Expo 2020, Dubai are Bikmie Keropok Amplang Ikan and Bikmie Keropok Amplang Udang from Rosmie Snack Industry Sdn. Bhd.; Eureka Drinks from Beta Maju Sdn. Bhd.; as well as various bun flavors such as Red Bean Steamed Bun, Spicy Anchovy Steamed Bun and Salted Banana Chips from Mama Best Food Manufacturer Sdn. Bhd.; Yuly Potato Crackers and Yuly Tapioca Crackers cheese flavor from Jalina Resources Millionaire; Sabah textile and handicraft from Kristal Handal Sdn. Bhd.; frozen pastry and premium butter cookies from Bailina Food Products Sdn. Bhd.; and various types of chilli paste from Lados Sdn. Bhd.

The “sending-off” ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister cum the Minister of Industrial Development, YB Datuk Dr. Joachim Gunsalam.

In the brief message to the participants of World Expo 2020 Dubai, YB Datuk Dr. Joachim Gunsalam wished everyone a safe journey to Dubai.

He also reminded Sabah delegations to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order in force.

Finally, the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister believed that Sabah delegations will be able to achieve the desired objectives.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment also sending the team to Dubai as part of delegation.
