KOTA KINABALU: The State’s strategic investment arm, Qhazanah Sabah Berhad reached out to aid the affected communities at Kampung Kopungit following the landslides.
Qhazanah Sabah Berhad led by its Chief Communications Officer Muhammad Khairulnizam Hasnan paid a site visit to the affected area recently said the company will provide grocery vouchers to some 50 affected households through its Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) “We Care, We Share” programme.
“This is part of the company’s commitment to alleviate the plight of the victims,” he said to the Kopungit Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK) Chairman Charles Gokin who was at the site.
Charles said the community is grateful for the donation aid from Qhazanah Sabah Berhad.
“Some villagers here have just lost their homes and belongings, some even told to evacuate immediately due to the possibility of water surge recurrence and these vouchers would help the villagers to buy what they need to cope with the situation,” Charles added.
On September 4, villagers around Kg Kopungit near here have been advised to evacuate their homes following a landslide.
The west coast of Sabah experienced heavy rains over the past few days and several areas were severely affected by floods and landslides.
