KOTA KINABALU: Warisan and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are in a rush to topple the present Perikatan Nasional (PN) government by staging protests to prevent Malaysians from supporting the government once the nation achieves 80 per cent immunity by November, this year.
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Deputy President Edward Dagul said those opposition leaders including their Members of Parliament (MPs) are proactive in making provocations to bring down the government as well as the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
By hook or by crook, he said Warisan and PH’s main agenda is to pull down PN before the 80 per cent herd immunity is achieved.
“Our Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has promised Malaysians to speed up the vaccination progress so as to achieve 80 per cent herd immunity by Nov 2021.
“Labuan is a very good example where the targeted herd immunity is achieved and labelled a success episode due to the hardwork by PN government.
“News and comments in the social media have even suggested that protests here and there have a dual purpose where on the surface, to display their unhappiness against the PN government, with no regards of public health safety and their own when the nation is fighting the Covid-19 pandemic,” Edward said in a statement here on Tuesday.
At the very least, that the protests were organised in order to create more Covid-19 clusters and burdening the healthcare workers who are already facing difficult times to treat the Covid-10 patients.
Edward was referring to the recent protest of #Lawan staged mostly by young Malaysians at Dataran Merdeka on July 31 to pressure the Prime Minister to step down, calling on the government to convene the Parliament and to end the Emergency Ordinances, which obviously unnecessary and could cause more new clusters.
“The PH and Warisan political leaders are afraid that all Malaysians will eventually support PN government and the Prime Minister when herd immunity by November this year comes into reality.
“That’s the real reason why the move to overthrow the current government is escalated. Those opposition leaders are making last concerted efforts to oust Tan Sri Muhyiddin and the Cabinet.
“Hence, Malaysians must not be fooled by such unscrupulous tactics to topple the present government which clearly a caring government on the people’s wellbeing and welfare especially when the nation is facing the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
Edward who is also a Supreme Council member of PN said all Malaysians must stay united and have confidence in the PN government which is focused to fight the global pandemic that strike the nation and ramp up the vaccination process to meet its herd immunity target before or in November, this year.
