PENAMPANG: At least 12 villages and 11 roads here were inundated with flood waters caused by the incessant rain which began yesterday.
Among the affected villages are Taman Donggongon, Kampung Tuavon, Kambau, Dabak, Nambazan, Kolopis, Inobong, Kinabaig, Gunsing and Kampung Tindai Kolopis.
Also flooded are Jalan Datuk Panglima Banting, Jalan Dakata, Jalan Kasigui, Jalan Tuavon, Jalan Kolupis, jalan Inobong, Jalan Kinabaig, Bulatan Siga, Jalan Edmund Labunda and Jalan Nambazan.
The Disaster Operation Control Centre has activated its action room and a temporary relocation centre at the Rumah Kelab Kompleks Sukan Penampang has been opened to help affected communities.
Nevertheless, as of this time of reporting, no one has been relocated to the centre.
According to a statement from the District Disaster Management Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee in Penampang, they are prepared to carry out surveillance and flood operations due to the bad weather.
This morning, the Sungai Moyog level was at the dangerous level of 9.40 meters.
At the same time, five areas in Kota Kinabalu experienced flash flooding following the heavy downpour.
The areas are Hospital Queen Elizabeth 1, Taman Sheraton Likas, Taman Dixon, Taman Mei Lok and Taman Cendawan.
The water receded fully by 8pm last night.
