KOTA KINABALU: Community Development and Peoples Wellbeing Ministry will channel assistance to the victims of the Kampung Tanjung Aru fire to reduce their burden.
Minister, Shahelmey Yahya said that the City Hall here is carrying out registration for the fire victims to ease the channeling of the aid and for the activation of the temporary lodging centre.
He said this during a press conference at the location of the fire.
Also present was City Hall mayor, Noorliza Awang Alip.
The Fire and Rescue Department operation centre here said that several units of firetrucks were dispatched together with 40 personnel after receiving the distress call at 7.08am.
About 10 houses were destroyed in the fire rendering some 34 families homeless.
The cause of the fire and total loss is being investigated.
