4,852 food parcels for families in Kiulu affected by the MCO

KIULU: Responding to request from families in Kiulu affected by the Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO), the Kiulu Sub-District Office in collaboration with the Kiulu People Development Unit (UPPM) office successfully distributed 4,852 food parcels to them.

Kiulu Assistand District Officer Justin Ginduk said the distribution, which started last Tuesday (June 29), involved Village Development and Security Committees (JPKK) and Village heads.

Also receiving the food parcels were more than 400 hardcore poor and less fortunate individuals listed under E-Kasih.

“Kiulu Assemblyman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai has requested the Sub-District Office and the Kiulu UPPM office to see to it that assistance are rendered promptly to those in need.

“He (Bangkuai) also wants us to make sure all needy families, irrespective of political affiliation, received the food assistace,” Justin said.

Bangkuai was at the Kiulu Community Centre on Tuesday and Sunday to oversee the handling of the food parcels to JPKK chairmen for distribution to needy families under their jurisdiction.

Justin expressed his appreciation to all the JPKK chairmen and village heads for their excellent cooperation in speedily distributing the food parcels.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Bangkuai thanked the Kiulu Sub-District and Kiulu UPPM office for efficiently managing the distribution of the food parcels.

On a news report that a single mother at Kg Ranap, Kiulu raised a “white flag” as a desperate cry for help, Bangkuai, who is also the Parti Bersatu Sabah Secretary General, said a staff of the UPPM office delivered a food parcel to her last Wednesday (June 30) but did not notice any white flag hoisted at the house.
