KOTA KINABALU: The city police here has successfully crippled a drug syndicate with the arrest of two local men in Inanam.
The district police chief, Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said that both the suspects who are 30 years old and 32 years old respectively, were apprehended during a raid that was launched around the Suria Inanam area at about 2.40pm yesterday.
He said that during the raid, police has confiscated two four wheel vehicles as well as three plastic packages containing syabu weighing 3109.25 grams that were neatly packed in a Chinese Tea with the writing “Tie Guan Yin” to fool the enforcement.
Speaking at a press conference at Kota Kinabalu today, Mohd Zaidi said that also confiscated were four handphones that were used in the supply transaction.
He said that drugs were believed to be supplied to distributors basing on information received.
Mohd Zaidi said that the value of the drugs confiscated were estimated to be about RM110,000 and able to fill the demands of nearly 15,096.25 drug addicts at any one time.
Both the suspects did not possess any pass records although one was positive for drug.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act which carries the death penalty.
