He said, the state-level Harvest Festival, which is celebrated on the 30th and 31st of May every year, is a symbolic occasion for all races to remain united.

“This festival is the key to unity and is the foundation of a bond of friendship.

“In this regard, it is necessary for us to defend the existing customs in continuing to unite all races in the state,” he said.

He said this after holding the SSK Kaamatan Virtual session through the Zoom application in Kota Kinabalu, today.

According to Salleh, who is also the Chairman of Warisan Harta Sabah (WHS), the virtual dialogue session was an initiative of his party to reach out to the public in adapting digital technology as well as celebrating the symbolic Kaamatan Festival.

“Coinciding with the theme of this year’s Kaamatan – A Borderless Kaamatan for Reconciliation and Peace, this digital adaptation plays an important role in our society to connect and celebrate this festival without face-to-face contact.

“Along with the new norms, the use of technology like this is also very meaningful for all Sabahans even though the full Movement Control Order (MCI) will be enforced starting from June 1, ” he said.

Salleh said such an approach indirectly gives a new lease of life in facing the challenges ahead.
