SIBU: The pilot edition of “Vibrations” aptly made its debut at the 2026 Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCIM) National Convention hosted by JCI Sibu at Kingwood Hotel, here, recently.

JCIM National President, JCI Senator Vincent Leng, who officially launched the 42-page book, said the “Vibrations” was a JCIM collaboration project with past National President JCI Senator Jovinia Solibun (1989), an entrepreneur-turned publisher and editor from Sabah.

He described this first edition as a celebration of women for their glowing achievements, leadership milestones, and meaningful contributions to society, setting the right tone for the JCI mission.

“Congratulations on the publication of ‘Vibrations’ which celebrates  the trails of eight outstanding JCI women who have built successful businesses while making a positive impact on their communities.

“The aim is to highlight JCI ladies who are currently running their businesses and expanding their business network, showcasing inspirational testimonies of journeys taken on the road to success.

“The initiative is also in tandem with the direction of JCI World President JCI Senator Alejandra Castillo who advocates female leadership empowerment,” Leng said.

The National President offered his highest commendations to Penampang-born Solibun for honouring and preserving the accomplishments of JCI members in nurturing future leaders.

“It is my sincere hope that this volume marks the beginning of a series which will continue to spotlight the extraordinary paths of members and encourage newer generations to become part of this global movement.”

Solibun, the Founder President of JCI Intan, an all-ladies chapter, represented Sabah in the National Advisory Council on the Integration of Women in Development (NACIWID) in the 1970s, now renamed National Women and Family Council.

At the JCIM National Convention, she was invited to moderate the Women Forum with the theme “Her Voice. Her Power. Her Legacy”, as part of the book launch. The forum featured sharing by four panel speakers, namely JCI Senator Jamie Tiew, Ashley Pe, Peggy Chai and Angel Lim Goh, on their personal stories and experiences related to women’s empowerment, highlighting their journeys, challenges and growth across different generations spanning the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and the New Millennium.

On “The Story Behind Vibrations”, Solibun said it all began with a conversation with Leng on JCI Intan being the first lady Local Organisation in Malaysia that significantly opened the door for ladies to be members of JCIM in their own right. “Historically, JCI Intan had played a vital role in advancing women’s membership in JCI Malaysia.”

According to her, the pilot edition was created to commemorate JCI Intan’s 50th Anniversary and showcase how this noble organisation has inspired various JCI Malaysia chapters to include lady members.

Originally intended to celebrate outstanding women entrepreneurs from JCI Intan in conjunction with the golden jubilee celebration, the initiative was expanded nationwide to feature eight notable JCI members who continue to lead and grow their businesses. Among the JCI women featured in this edition are two Sabahans, JCI Senator Naomi Munggai, a longtime educator, and Anne Antah, Founder of Chanteek Borneo, who served as presidents of JCI Intan in 1987 and 2012 respectively.

“Vibrations celebrates individuals whose journeys of courage, perseverance, leadership, and achievements have generated meaningful impact.

“It focuses on the testimonies of current women entrepreneurs who all acknowledge that their memberships in JCIM or JCI Intan were foundational to their respective personal and leadership skills development.

“Through their stories, we are all reminded that success isn’t simply about reaching for the stars, but about the lessons learned and the lives touched along the way. So, this inaugural compilation is a homage to them,” Solibun said in a phone interview.

This illustrated edition, she added, captures the ethos of JCI World President Alejandra Castillo – “Empowering

Women” – while aiming to inspire future generations and encouraging both women and men to discover their potential and create a lasting impact.

For a start, 500 copies were printed and almost sold out.
