Senior govt agency official arrested on suspicion of presenting forged documents valued at RM15,000

SANDAKAN: A senior government agency official has been apprehended by Malaysia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah branch on suspicion of submitting two fraudulent documents claiming approximately RM15,000 in false expenses.

The female suspect, believed to be in her 30s, was detained around 10 a.m. on Tuesday when she arrived to provide a statement at the MACC Sandakan office.

The two documents in question allegedly involved false claims for meeting expenses and travel costs related to a senior ministry official’s official visit.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect committed this offense sometime between 2023 and 2024.

Sabah MACC Director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the woman’s arrest when contacted.

He stated that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

The suspect is scheduled to be charged at the Sandakan Corruption Sessions Court tomorrow, October 8, 2026.
