KOTA KINABALU: Former New Sabah Times journalist Shaban Shah bin Parbo, 68, died due to complications from various illnesses at his home in PPR Keramat Putatan on Monday.
According to his son, Shafrizan Shah, his father’s remains were laid to rest at the Kampung Ulu Satu Putatan cemetery on Monday afternoon.
The late Shahan, who was often known by his pen name Shane Shah, was well-known for his crime reporting during his tenure at New Sabah Times in the 1990s.
Newmond Tibin, editor of Jesselton Times and former Sabah Bernama Bureau Chief, said that the late journalist was friendly, approachable, and deeply committed to his work, particularly in investigative journalism and crime reporting.
“Let us all pray that the soul of the deceased is forgiven for his sins, granted mercy, and placed among the faithful and righteous.
“May the family left behind be granted resilience, patience, and emotional strength in facing this trial,” he said.
