140,000 KIR to benefit from SYUKUR Program

KOTA KINABALU: Around 140,000 individuals are set to receive support through the second phase of the People’s Touch Program (SYUKUR) this year.

Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun, Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, affirmed the state government’s ongoing commitment to advancing the SYUKUR Program and other initiatives under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 agenda.

He emphasized that these efforts are part of a sustained push to improve public welfare across Sabah.

He also shared that the number of Heads of Households (KIR) in the Merotai State Assembly (DUN) constituency expected to benefit from SYUKUR is projected to reach 993 by 2025.

So far this year, 1,624 KIR in Merotai have already received assistance under the program.

His remarks came in response to a query from Sarifuddin Hata (WARISAN-Merotai), who asked about the number of low-income household heads receiving the monthly RM200 SYUKUR aid in the Merotai DUN and Kalabakan parliamentary areas during the recent Sabah State Legislative Assembly session.

Mandela further noted that in the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency, SYUKUR coverage increased from 3,254 KIR last year to 5,263 KIR this year.
