KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, President of the Sabah People’s Hope Party, said his appointment as Chairman of GRS Zone Six is a major responsibility that demands full dedication to further solidify the coalition, particularly in Sabah’s East Coast region.
He described the role as a mark of trust from the leadership.
The appointment, announced by GRS Chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and confirmed during yesterday’s GRS Supreme Council meeting, demonstrates the leadership’s confidence in Liew’s ability to coordinate party activities and enhance operational readiness across the zone.
Liew emphasized that the priority will be ensuring all GRS component parties function as a unified, well-organized team, aligned in advancing public interests and Sabah’s development.
“This is not merely an honor—it comes with substantial responsibility,” he stated.
“I view it as a chance to deepen unity among our parties and ensure our machinery remains prepared for future political challenges.”
He cautioned against complacency, noting that while the current parliamentary term extends until next year, early preparations are essential for more systematic and effective planning.
Liew plans to conduct regular assessments and monitor readiness reports from each parliamentary constituency within Zone Six to ensure smooth implementation of initiatives.
He stressed that GRS’s true strength lies not in the number of its member parties, but in the shared spirit of unity, loyalty, and cooperation that has underpinned Sabah’s political stability in recent years.
According to Liew, the public expects a stable and united government capable of delivering tangible development.
“People evaluate us based on performance and problem-solving,” he said.
“That’s why unity within GRS and strong collaboration with partners in the Sabah Unity Government must be continuously reinforced.”
He added that unity amplifies their ability to represent the people, protect Sabah’s rights, and sustain uninterrupted progress.
Maintaining current political stability is crucial, he noted, as it creates a favorable environment for investment, economic growth, and job creation.
Liew underscored the need for GRS to remain a mature and inclusive coalition focused on public welfare, in line with efforts to guide Sabah toward greater advancement and prosperity.
“Our aim goes beyond elections,” he said.
“It’s about keeping Sabah firmly on a path of sustained development—where GRS’s strength translates into political stability, economic growth, and improved well-being for all.” he added.
