KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak, Sabah’s newly appointed Chief Inspector of Projects, stated that one of his top priorities is to gain a clearer grasp of the obstacles hindering the execution of development initiatives throughout the state.
From early assessments, he noted that certain recurring problems frequently contribute to project delays.
“These encompass inadequate planning, administrative inefficiencies, limitations in contractor capabilities, increasing construction expenses, and difficulties in coordinating among various agencies and stakeholders.
“Identifying the underlying reasons for delays is a crucial first step in formulating effective remedies,” he explained in a recent Facebook update.
He emphasized that the goal is not to point fingers, but rather to recognize existing challenges, analyze the factors causing setbacks, and support the development of practical solutions.
Salleh added that where issues can be addressed, prompt action must be taken to keep projects moving forward.
Yet, in cases where projects remain stuck despite repeated interventions, tougher decisions may ultimately be required.
“The focus must always remain on completing projects successfully and serving the public interest,” he said.
The former Chief Minister stressed that advancing Sabah’s development agenda demands dedication, collaboration, transparency, and accountability from all involved.
“By uniting as a cohesive team, we can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery, ensuring greater benefits for the people of Sabah,” he added.
