TAMBUNAN: Engaging in sports and participating in competitions can cultivate a strong sense of identity, discipline, and fighting spirit among children, especially school students, as such competition serves as a fundamental platform for naturally developing these traits.
Dato’ Victor P. Paut, the Deputy Chairman of Sawit Kinabalu and Borneo Samudera Sdn Bhd, stated that in the realm of sports, participants must confront real challenges that determine their own fate and that of their peers.
“They will learn that success does not come easily, as every achievement must be earned through dedication and sacrifice.
Without continuous training, high discipline, and a strong fighting spirit, success is unlikely to be achieved,” he said in his speech at the closing ceremony of the 58th District School Sports Council (MSSD) Tambunan Championship here on Friday.
He noted that the Tambunan district is also renowned for its exceptional sports talents that have brought recognition to the area on a national level.
“I am confident that through events like this, we are witnessing the emergence of new sports stars of the future who will one day elevate the name of Sabah and Malaysia to greater heights.
Excellence in sports should go hand in hand with academic achievement and the development of good character.
“We do not want to produce athletes who excel on the field but lack discipline and life values.
“We must nurture a generation that is balanced, excelling in studies while being active in sports and possessing commendable character, in line with Malaysia’s educational aspirations and the spirit of Malaysia Madani itself,” said Victor, who is also the Head of the PGRS N39 Tambunan Division.
He also expressed appreciation for the educators who are dedicated to teaching, guiding, and developing students’ potential tirelessly and selflessly.
