ADUN Likas urges DBKK to act on illegal settlements

KOTA KINABALU: Likas assemblyman Tham Yun Fook is urging the state government and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to take stronger action against unauthorized settlements behind Kingfisher Sulaman and Likas Square.

He warned that the growing number of squatter homes in these locations has become a serious concern and needs prompt intervention by authorities.

Tham emphasized that beyond tarnishing the city’s reputation, the settlements could lead to problems involving sanitation, safety risks, and public health hazards.

“We shouldn’t wait for a disaster to happen before stepping in,” he said.
