KOTA KINABALU: A crocodile weighing approximately 200 kilograms (kg) and measuring nearly 11.4 feet in length was captured this morning near the beach area of the Sabah State Assembly building in Likas.
Captain (PA) Aizex Junior from the Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Force (APM) stated that they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8:02 AM, prompting a team of 10 members led by Lieutenant Muda (PA) Umi Kifli to be dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the crocodile had already been caught by local villagers using a fishing net.
“The operation team then conducted safety measures by tying the crocodile’s mouth shut with rope and covering its eyes with cloth.
“The team, along with the villagers, carried the crocodile approximately 500 meters uphill to remove it from the beach area,” he mentioned in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that the crocodile was subsequently taken to the Sulaman Operations Control Center (PKOU) before being handed over to the Sabah Wildlife Department (JHL) for further action.
