KTC to construct a RM150 million logistics hub and warehouse, showcasing the success of a Sabah company – Ewon

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III, Datuk Ewon Benedick, has described the achievement of Kim Teck Cheong (KTC) Consolidated Berhad in starting the construction of a RM150 million logistics hub and warehouse at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) as a significant success for local Sabah companies that deserves recognition.

Ewon said this investment demonstrates the Sabah government’s commitment to prioritising local companies with credibility and the capability to drive the state’s industrial development to greater heights.

“KTC’s success today, as a local Sabah company listed on Bursa Malaysia and continuing to invest in this state, illustrates that the Sabah government prioritises local companies that can be elevated and have the credibility to advance the industrial sector in Sabah,” he said.

He made these remarks while speaking to reporters after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the KTC Consolidated Berhad logistics hub and warehouse at KKIP today.

Ewon, who is also Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship, and Transport. mentioned that the project is expected to create over 500 job opportunities for the people of Sabah upon its completion in approximately one and a half years.

“This project involves an investment of RM150 million and is set to provide job opportunities for no less than 500 individuals.

“This does not include the potential participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the supply chain and services that will expand once the logistics hub is completed,” he added.

He noted that this investment also reflects the positive development of the industrial sector in Sabah, which is increasingly growing, including through collaborations with foreign companies.

He said his ministry will continue to provide support, advisory services, and facilitation to ease domestic and foreign investments interested in investing in Sabah.
