KOTA KINABALU: The MADANI government has allocated RM2.17 billion under Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) to implement 39 strategic development projects in Sandakan.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, stated that these projects encompass sectors such as road infrastructure, water supply, education, security, and environmental conservation.
He mentioned that RM213.32 million has been allocated for the year 2026 for the execution of these projects.
According to him, out of the total identified projects, 26 are currently underway, 12 have entered the post-implementation phase, and one project has been fully completed.
“This progress reflects encouraging implementation performance and good coordination among ministries, implementing agencies, and the state government,” he said in a statement today.
Key projects currently in progress include the construction of the Semawang to Tanjung Kuala Gum-Gum road; the Sandakan Sewage Treatment Plant; the construction of RKAT and Mawilla 2 Jetty; and the upgrading of the Sandakan water supply system.
Mustapha said the government will ensure that all projects are executed effectively and transparently and provide direct benefits to the people in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.
