Backyard Garden – Kebun Dapur- makes its debut in Tenom

TENOM: The Dapur Garden (Kebun Dapur) initiative is being held for the first time in this area, bringing together thousands of residents from Tenom and Kemabong in conjunction with the opening of the Kaamatan Festival at the district level in Tenom.

The minister of agriculture, fisheries, and food industry, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, who is also the Melalap assemblyman, participated in the durian grafting course held outside the Datuk Seri Panglima Antanom Hall here on Friday.

During the programme, Jamawi demonstrated grafting techniques for durians to produce higher quality and more valuable durian varieties.

The Dapur Garden initiative in the Tenom District is being held in conjunction with the opening of the Kaamatan Festival at the district level, which he will officiate on Saturday.

Also present were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Jumain Abdul Ghani; the District Officer of Tenom, Alexander Liew; the District Chief, Tusib Tulas; the Community Development Leader, Denesly Justin; and ministry officials.

Participating in the programme were departments and agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Industry (MAFFI), which held exhibitions and sales of local products.
