PAPAR: Papar Member of Parliament Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali welcomed the opening of the Burger King Benoni Drive-Thru at Parklane City Benoni Commercial Centre, as it also provides job opportunities for the people of this district.
“I was also informed that Cosmo Restoran Sdn Bhd, the Burger King franchisee, also provides training which will definitely increase the skills of Papar’s youth.
“This is the second Burger King outlet in Papar, where the first was opened at Plaza 22. We very much welcome the opening of another Burger King franchisee through the Benoni Drive-Thru service in the Papar parliamentary constituency, he said.
He said this to the media after officiating the opening ceremony of Burger King Benoni Drive-Thru at Parklane City Benoni Commercial Centre, Papar, on Sunday.
Armizan, who is also the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, said that Burger King has also received approval to source local food ingredients from this state.
“This is also a very good thing that will definitely have a positive impact on the supply chain in Sabah.
“Our responsibility in Sabah is to ensure that we have an adequate supply chain to ensure that any type of business, including those related to F&B, is sufficient in Sabah.
“When it comes to local food chains, it also benefits the PMKS in Papar and Sabah as a whole. So the commitment given by Cosmo Restaurant is very good, and we as local leaders will provide strong support,” he said.
Armizan also expressed his appreciation to WSG Group, especially its managing director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, for their commitment to bringing about many developments in the Parlane City Benoni Commercial Center and for opening new township areas in the Papar Parliament, such as in Benoni and Kinarut.
“So of course when a new urban area is opened, there needs to be filling and attraction, and when a restaurant franchise like Burger King is opened, it will not only give local residents a choice to buy, find food and so on with a variety of choices, but also Papar will become one of the big spots when the Pan Borneo highway is completed; there will be tourists, including from Brunei.
“We hope that Papar will have various other attractions at Parklane City and the Benoni Commercial Centre; it will be able to become an attraction so that the visitors, before reaching Kota Kinabalu, will stop at the Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City.
“Thank you to Cosmo Restaurant for helping to enliven and fill the development in Papar, and I am quite confident that the spillover effect, including the economy, will benefit the local community in Papar,” he said.
Burger King Drive-Thru is located at Lot 149, off a single-storey commercial lot (drive-thru), Parlane City, Papar.
Meanwhile, Burger King Malaysia & Singapore Chief Executive Officer Ng Lee Tieng said, “We are grateful for the support from the Papar community since Burger King Benoni Drive-Thru opened in January 2026.
“The Papar Drive-Thru marks the 17th outlet in Sabah, reflecting our continued focus on bringing Burger King’s flame-grilled burgers and a consistent guest experience to more communities across the state.
“As we grow our footprint here, we remain committed to serving residents with greater convenience while creating local job opportunities for the area,” she added.
Meanwhile, Susan said she was honoured, happy and thankful because Burger King has chosen Parklane City to open their 17th outlet.
“I wish Burger King will continue to be open in Kinarut and our future projects because all my friends said Burger King food quality is much better and more delicious,” she added.
