Burger King set to open a drive-thru at Parklane City by Christmas this year

PAPAR: International fast food hamburger chain, Burger King, is set to open a drive-thru at Parklane City by Christmas this year.

The Parlane City outlet will be Burger King’s 203rd branch in Malaysia and 16th in Sabah.

Upon receiving the key from WSG Group managing director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen on Thursday, Burger King manager Haikal Izzat said renovation of the new outlet is expected to be completed in a month in order for the new premise to open in December.

The burger fast food chain is the fourth drive-thru in Benoni New Township, following the establishment of KFC, McDonald’s and A&W, making the commercial area with the highest number of drive-thrus in Sabah.

It was learned that 99 Speedmart took over Burger King in 2015. To date, Burger King has 202 outlets nationwide, including 15 in Sabah. Parklane City will be the company’s 203rd outlet in Malaysia.

Occupying a total land area of 27,000 square feet (sqft) with a 4,275-sqft building, the outlet has been custom built by WSG Group to meet Burger King’s design and operational needs.

“Burger King has already mobilized a team to begin interior works and installation of equipment. “The outlet is expected to open by early or mid-December, just in time for Christmas. “It is wonderful news for the people of Papar and the Benoni New Township,” Susan said.

She noted that the Benoni New Township already hosts three drive-thru outlets, namely McDonald’s, KFC, and A&W, and Burger King will be the fourth, further enhancing the area’s reputation as a thriving modern hub.

In addition, the township features several other international and popular brands, including Pizza Hut, 4 Fingers, Tealive, U Tea, Secret Recipe, Pezzo, Dozo, Domino Pizza, Servay Hypermarket, and Courts furniture store. The 10Star
Cinemas and banquet hall located in Parklane City have also brought a new level of entertainment and event experiences to Papar.

The success of the Benoni Satellite Township development has significantly contributed to Papar’s socio-economic growth, creating vast employment opportunities and stimulating strong business activities in the district.

Susan also revealed that WSG Group is currently in discussions with 99 Speedmart to open a branch in Parklane City for the convenience of local residents.

She said an indoor sports arena is in the pipeline, which will provide comprehensive sports facilities for Paparians. Under Susan’s leadership, WSG Group has developed the 100-acre township in Benoni, Papar, comprising 320 shoplots, 180 units of Parklane Villa terrace houses, and 230 units of Benoni Garden Condominium.

The company is now constructing 860 units of Parklane Residences Lifestyles Condominium, and the units are selling fast.

Susan acquired the 100-acre land in Kampung Benoni, Papar, adjacent to the Pan Borneo Highway, in 2010 and subsequently launched the Benoni New Township project, comprising Benoni Commercial Centre and Parklane City.
Papar is also the hometown of Susan’s beloved mother, Datin Seri Panglima Chen Si Mui.
