KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) is well-prepared for the Sabah State Election (PRN) in terms of the candidates and the manifesto that will be shared with the public.
The Chief of Women’s UMNO Sabah, Datuk Noraini Idris, stated that BN’s decision not to collaborate with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) opens up opportunities for the party to demonstrate its own strength.
“I believe the majority of UMNO/BN members support the decision not to work with GRS in the upcoming 17th PRN. I also sense that among the members of GRS, there is a similar stance.
“In my view, this is a decision we must accept, as it will also create opportunities to prove that UMNO has its own strength.
“We know that UMNO/BN will indeed collaborate with Pakatan Harapan (PH). However, once we have decided not to cooperate with GRS, this is the space and opportunity to show that UMNO/BN can stand on its own,” she said.
She further explained that UMNO/BN has an excellent governance track record over 25 years in Sabah.
“UMNO/BN has a remarkable governance track record. We have previously been the government in Sabah, even though we are now in opposition. We have a record in Sabah for over 25 years.
“If we look at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), the Pan-Borneo Highway project, the Sabah Development Corridor, and the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) in Kimanis… all of these were established while BN was in power in the State of Sabah. These are all outstanding achievements of BN,” she added.
Further commenting, she stated that the presentation of candidates and the manifesto offered to the public is crucial to attract voter support.
