Gagasan Rakyat rejects Anwar’s proposal for BN to cooperate with GRS-PH in PRN—Masiung

TONGOD: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Vice President Datuk Masiung Banah has rejected Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s proposal for the Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a cooperation between the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the 17th state election (PRN-17).
“It is impossible for that understanding to be achieved, as it will confuse the voters; after all, GRS and PH have already reached a consensus to continue political cooperation.
“However, if the cooperation of the three coalitions of the party occurred, we would adhere to the Prime Minister’s statement on May 11 in Tawau for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to lead the seating negotiations,” he said, commenting on the Prime Minister’s statement in connection with the latest proposal that was made last night.
During a special meeting with the Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leader in Kota Kinabalu yesterday, the prime minister said he would try to achieve negotiations between GRS-BN and PH so that there was no clash of the three coalitions in the PRN-17.
Masiung said that the people’s ideas were that GRS certainly would not agree with Anwar’s proposal for the three coalitions of the party to establish a ‘triangular’ relationship.
According to him, the Sabah GRS and PH were well-versed with the political cooperation that existed in managing the state government’s previous administration.
He said GRS had lost confidence with the BN/UMNO, as it had previously criticised cooperation with GRS and PH through ‘Kinabalu’s move.’
According to Masiung, since the Kinabalu step-by-step-by-step events, its leaders have continued to blow hostility and undermine GRS with various tactics and strategies.
“At the same time, UMNO/BN Sabah has also decided not to work with GRS.
“We hope the Prime Minister respects our stand and keeps his promise to hand over to the Chairman of the GRS (Hajiji) leading a seat negotiation to the parties in the political coalition ahead of the PRN-17,” he added.
