PENAMPANG: The upgrade of the Terian–Buayan road and land surveying in Kg. Togudon, which has been eagerly anticipated by the local villagers, is now being executed as part of the PANTAS Program.
Datuk Ewon Benedick, the Member of Parliament for Penampang, stated that this project is one of the key initiatives currently underway, alongside the flood mitigation project in Donggongon, the enhancement of Tamu Donggongon, and the construction of the Babagon Bridge.
“This reflects my commitment to fulfill my duties as the elected representative for this region by prioritizing infrastructure and economic growth.
“These projects represent significant advancements that have occurred over the past two and a half years since I was entrusted with the mandate as the elected representative for this area,” he remarked.
He made these comments during his address at the opening of the Kolopis Zone Kaamatan Festival Celebration on Sunday.
Ewon noted that all development initiatives in Penampang are detailed in the Penampang Development Master Plan 2024–2035, which will serve as the primary guide for the execution of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) commencing in 2026.
The Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development mentioned that his ministry has launched various facilities and initiatives in Penampang, including the establishment of the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN) office, a TEKUN Nasional branch, a Tiktok live studio, and the Sabah PMKS Hub.
Concerning the Kaamatan celebration, Ewon emphasized that this event is not merely cultural but also serves as a platform to enhance unity and harmony among different races.
During the ceremony, he agreed to allocate RM30,000 to the Persatuan Khairat Kematian Kampung Kolopis, funded through the allocation of the Penampang Member of Parliament.
