KOTA BELUD: There is a growing recognition among the public, particularly entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders, about the significance of halal certification and product hygiene as a value addition to businesses.
Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, stated that halal certification not only fulfills religious requirements but also serves as a symbol of quality assurance, safety, and cleanliness.
He noted that with halal certification, traders can confidently promote and sell food products without hesitation.
“Consumer trust is the greatest asset in business. When our business adheres strictly to halal principles, we not only gain the trust of the Muslim community but also the confidence of various segments of society that prioritize cleanliness, health, and product integrity,” he remarked.
Salleh, who is also the Usukan assemblyman, made these comments while officiating the Entrepreneurship Program Towards Halal Certification at HS Homestay in Kg Pirasan, near here today.
Also present was the organising chairman, Datuk Hamzah Sundang.
The entrepreneurship program, attended by 200 participants, was organised by the Economic Bureau of USBO Cooperative Bumis Sabah Berhad in collaboration with the Kota Belud Small Traders and Entrepreneurs Association.
Salleh mentioned that the program aims to build a network of halal entrepreneurs in Sabah, particularly in the Kota Belud Zone.
He added that it also seeks to foster collaboration between entrepreneurs and government agencies to develop the halal industry.
