Previously, the Sabah UMNO Chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin announced Salleh, the former chief minister, as the BN/UMNO candidate for the Usukan constituency.

Yesterday, Japlin asserted that the Usukan state assembly seat would be contested by a candidate from the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the 17th PRN.

Japlin emphasised that GRS is the most qualified and suitable party to represent the people in the area.

“We will not compromise any further; we will ensure that Usukan belongs to GRS in the upcoming election, and this is our firm stance,” he stated.

Japlin made these remarks while officiating the Solidarity Seminar Facing the 17th PRN at the Datuk Japlin Open Hall in Kota Belud.

He mentioned that PGRS Usukan has made all necessary preparations and will not retreat; they must continue to move forward and ensure that the Usukan DUN seat is secured for GRS.

He added that only through GRS representatives can the issues and needs of the people in Usukan be effectively addressed, along with enhancing the existing facilities.
