KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick has been selected to lead Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah for the term 2024 to 2026.
Ewon, who is also the president of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO), was elected to this position during the Sabah PH annual meeting held here today.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Ewon emphasised that this appointment comes with significant responsibilities aimed at ensuring that the PH Sabah machinery and the MADANI Government can provide a brighter future for the people of Sabah.
“PH Sabah has the autonomy to determine its governance and political collaboration.
“The decisions made during today’s annual meeting have adhered to all constitutional requirements of PH and proceeded smoothly.
“I extend my deepest gratitude to Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew for her substantial contributions during her tenure as Chairman of Sabah PH,” he remarked.
Ewon noted that there is no necessity for the PH coalition to be led by a local party, as it has a broader vision and goal of securing a better future for the people of Sabah.
“Whether the Chairman of Sabah PH is from PKR, DAP, AMANAH, or UPKO is secondary. PH Sabah is committed to participating in the leadership and democratic processes of the nation to ensure the rights to development, constitutional rights, and a better future for the people of Sabah.
“PH Sabah also aims to support the stability of the MADANI Government led by Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim in order to advance the Federation of Malaysia,” he added.
