KOTA KINABALU: Sabah FC achieved a decisive 4-1 victory over Kelantan Darul Naim FC in a Premier League match at Likas Stadium on Sunday evening.
The home team took the lead in the 16th minute when their foreign player, Joao Pedro, scored, successfully bypassing the efforts of Kelantan’s goalkeeper, Mohammad Fikri Che Son.
Just a minute later, Sabah FC nearly doubled their advantage, but S Kumaahran’s shot went over the crossbar.
Kelantan Darul Naim FC equalised in the 25th minute, with striker Fazrul Amir Zaman taking advantage of a defensive lapse by Sabah’s Rawilson Batuil.
Nonetheless, the parity was short-lived, as Sabah FC quickly restored their lead in the 26th minute when Muhammad Farhan Roslan found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Gabriel Peres.
Before the first half ended, Sabah FC further extended their lead in the 44th minute when they were awarded a free kick following a foul on S Kumaahran by Joao Pedro.
Stuart Wilkin successfully converted the free kick, concluding the first half with a score of 3-1.
In the second half, Sabah FC continued their offensive, adding another goal just 15 minutes in, as Gabriel Peres headed in a free kick taken by Stuart Wilkin.
Sabah FC came close to scoring again in the 76th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside by referee Muhammad Khairulsyahmi Ahmad Khalidi.
